Our achievements
1.0 With the aim of building a Digital Bangladesh by 2021, to make the country a knowledge-based society and a middle-income country, the government formed the Department of Information and Communication Technology under the Ministry of Science and Information and Communication Technology in 2011. The information and communication technology department was formed in 2014 under the reconstituted post, telecommunication and information technology ministry, to speed up the pace of the development of information technology and to get a better coordination. This division has been implementing various projects and programs aimed at creating skilled human resources in the ICT sector, to create employment opportunities, to develop infrastructure, to connectivity, to develop ICT industry and to innovate new and expand ICT education.
1.1 The Directorate of Information and Communication Technology, with a total of 756 posts, including 564 technical posts has been formed in 2013 to provide citizen services to the field level of information and communication technology. On July 14, 2015, 200 (two hundred) technical knowledge manpower has been posted in different districts and upazilas. Manpower structure of more than 111 people has been approved, whose recruitment process is underway. When the recruitment process is completed, it will be easier for the government to provide ICT related services at the field level. This will make it easier for the public to provide harassment free services.
1.2 Development of National Infra-Network for Bangladesh Government (BanglaGovNet) through 58 Ministries / Divisions, 227 Department / Directorate, 64 District and 64 Upazila Level Offices, with network connections in various important important establishments in Dhaka 43 Kms. The installation of optical fiber has been completed. In the continuation of the BanglaGovnet project, the work of connecting 18453 government offices located in 64 districts and 488 upazilas was done through the same information network as per the information-sarker-II project. Using the network, Video Conferencing System has been launched in the important 800 locations in the district and upazila. Tablet PC has been distributed among 25,000 thousand (twenty five thousand) official officials to connect government officials online at all times. Wi-Fi connectivity has been established at the Bangladesh Secretariat and Bangladesh Computer Council.
1.3 In order to expand the Internet connection at the union level, the activities of setting up of optical fiber network in the 2600 unions under the Infosystem Phase-3 project have been adopted for the expansion of Internet connection. And through the Establishing Digital Connectivity Project, the activities of establishing optical fiber networks and providing services to the intern has been adopted for all the public private entities across the country.
1.4 A Tier-3 quality data center has been set up in the BCC building for preserving the data of different ministries / divisions / organizations in the electronic system. Also, Tier-4 quality data center has been set up in Kaliakair High-Tech Park. Disaster Recovery Center is set up at Software Technology Park, Jessore, Sheikh Hasina.
1.5 Establishment of South Asia Sub-Regional Economic Cooperation (SASEC) project to set up regional network in four countries (Bangladesh, India, Nepal and Bhutan) through SASEC, to establish 58 km Fiber Optic Cable line from Panchagarh to Bangabandhu Has been there.
On the basis of Public Private Partnership, the work of developing high-tech infrastructure on 232 acres of land in Kaliakoir of Gazipur district is progressing fast. Construction of 15-storey multi-tenant building and 12-storey dormitory building in Jessore's Software Technology Park on 9.18 acres of land is in the final phase. Public utility tower software technology park in Karwan Bazar has been officially started. Meanwhile, space allocation has been provided between 17 (seventeen) IT companies. Work has been taken to establish Mohakhali IT Village on 47 acres of land. Projects for setting up single design IT parks in 12 locations in the country have been adopted. Also, seven IT training and incubation centers have been set up. The government has already issued 10 SROs for special incentive package for developers and investors of HiTech Park developers.
1.7 In the 55,000 free-lancers scheduled under the Learning and Arnegging Development Project, 20,000 women have already been trained on Basic ICT leteracy. Through this project, more than 25000 young people will be trained on Basic ICT Training and 10000 Science Graduates on Advanced Outsourcing in the current fiscal year. Mobile ICT Training Bus has already been purchased for the purpose of increasing the efficiency of women's ICT through this project. There will be all the training related facilities on this bus through which the upazila / union level educated young people will get the opportunity to receive training on ICT. There are plans to bring about 1000 women under this training program in the current fiscal year.
1.8 Under the heading "Leveraging ICT for Growth, Employment and Governance", 34,000 IT professionals have been taken to create necessary programs. As part of the Fast Track Future Leader, 387 people have already been trained. Apart from the 10,000 selected science graduates, 1000 people as part of IT Top Up Training and 2000 of 20,000 selected as part of the Foundation Skill Training have been provided training.
